Lunar Prospector

The Lunar Prospector model was very simple to construct, both in number of parts and in the rather simple design of the spacecraft.  This was constructed from a kit purchased from Space Craft International.

The main body of the spacecraft is a basic cylinder covered in solar cells.  It was a bit tricky to glue the seam such that the cells lined up and that the body was of the exact diameter to hold the inner parts.

The booms were short enough such that sagging was not a concern.  Over a year after assembly, no sagging is evident.

This model took about 10 hours to construct.  There were a few internal parts that cannot be seen after the model is constructed--these helped to illustrate the internal design of the spacecraft.
