Mars Polar Lander

The Mars Polar Lander spacecraft was a very simple and small model.  This was constructed from a kit purchased from Space Craft International.

As the kit itself was very basic [and inexpensive], I added a few details, such as gluing foil to the undersides of the solar arrays.  I also added the propellant tanks by gluing foil to two ½" wood craft balls.

I estimate that this model took a total of 5 hours, not including the drying time after assembly of many of the sub-sections.  I guess it's fortuitous that a large amount of time was not spent on this model, as the mission was lost and returned no science data.
